Charming Washington Court House, OH, is one of the nicest spots to visit in the state, but it’s also close to plenty of great towns and cities that showcase the best of Ohio. These weekend getaways are less than two hours away from Washington Court House.
1. Wilmington, Ohio
Half an hour from Washington Court House is a fantastic spot for enjoying the best of the great outdoors. This lovely, family-friendly destination has tons of wholesome activities, too, like the Adventure Cove Mini Golf course and the Rombach Place Museum. Cowan Lake State Park is an excellent place to connect with nature. Enjoy watersports like boating or fishing, or hike the park by foot. Wilmington also has many seasonal activities like festivals, events, parades, and live music.
2. Columbus, Ohio
Columbus, Ohio, is less than an hour away from Washington Court House, and it’s one of the state’s most energetic and interesting cities. You’ll find world-class entertainment, great dining, excellent museums, and many family-friendly activities that will keep you busy all weekend. Explore some of Columbus’ charming districts, like the Short North Arts District and the German Village, or enjoy the sunset on the riverwalk.
No matter what time of year it is, there’s always something fantastic happening in Columbus, and since it’s so close to Washington Court House, there’s no reason not to visit.
3. Grove City, Ohio
Just over half an hour away from Washington Court House, Grove City is an excellent place to enjoy some of Ohio’s finest nature. One of the top places to visit is the Scioto Grove Metro Park, with tons of different trails, a suspension bridge, and a creek running through it.
You can also go kayaking or canoeing on the Big Darby Creek Scenic River or play a paintball game at Grove City’s massive paintball park. There are also tons of nearby farms and Century Village, a town built in 1800s style that is a charming reminder of Grove City’s past.
4. Xenia, Ohio
Roughly half an hour away from Washington Court House, Xenia is a lovely city with plenty of things to do for every taste and style. You’ll find a fun, artistic community with lots of boutique shopping, great entertainment, and some of the best food in the state. There’s also lots of nature to explore, including the paved trails surrounding the city and the nearby Clifton Gorge State Nature Preserve.
